2011 Eastern Open

A USATT SANCTIONED FOUR STAR EVENT!

The Eastern Open is the ‘Grand Old Lady’ of our sport, an event that has its roots back in the 1930’s. It’s an honor for NATT to hold this event and continue the fine tradition it represents.  After a one year change of venue we return to the Werblin Center at Rutgers University and on the holiday weekend, too!

Within easy driving distance of the NYC and Philadelphia areas, the Eastern Open attracts the finest club players of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions and many national and international elite players. Competition is always spirited and many long- standing rivalries are renewed here.

Rutgers University is a family oriented site, with well-lit parking, a very secure environment in a patrolled campus town. The Werblin Center gives us three basketball courts of playing space, wooden floors, a very high ceiling and comfortably holds 200 players. The lighting is not as bright as might be desired and ‘white or orange?’ does become a question here. Because of the deep russet color of the floor, the tournament uses white balls in this venue.

With a strong and loyal player base, good conditions and a no-worries setting, the Eastern Open is a highlight of the tournament year. Partisan rooting is normal and the atmosphere is electric for Championship matches. Your best chance to see Northeast club warriors and National/International level play!
